Philip Glass, a world renowned composer, has worked alongside Third Coast Percussion and Gavin Bryars to create Perpetulum, an entirely percussion based album with 14 tracks. I was tasked to create a fictional promotional poster for an upcoming concert in Montreal.
Creative process
After playing around with interesting visuals, I experimented with mark-making material and news paper to find interesting colors, patterns, and close-ups. From painting, ink, and collages, I made sure to experiment with as many options as could to explore the many ways to represent music through design.
With the promotional campaign complete it was time to bring another element to the Perpetulum experience with a vinyl set. This includes a jacket, sleeve, and vinyl. With the set, I experimented with how I could use important elements from the poster and transform them into another former with 3 different parts. This calls to creative thinking where I needed to analyze how each of these parts could play with each other and how could add to the vinyl and music.
